The Prodigy 4.0 2022 is a ski from Faction, designed for backcountry and intended for experienced skiers.
The skis in the Prodigy range are designed for all-mountain use, but with certain freestyle or freeride features depending on the model. All Prodigy are built the same way with the same technologies. They have a Twin Directional shape with two rockers at the ends which give it good behaviour and handling on all types of snow, both forward and backward. Only the core and the side cuts vary from one model to another.
With its 116mm waist, the Prodigy 4.0 is the fat ski in the range. When the snow is fresh and deep, it literally flies over it and should put a big smile on your face. Incredibly playful and manoeuvrable, the Prodigy 4.0 chains the butters and slides easily over the powder, lands perfectly from big airs, and slips nimbly through powder-filled forests.
In terms of construction, the Prodigy range has elliptical side cuts to improve floatability in powder while limiting unintentional edge errors.
Thus, the Prodigy 4.0 is a machine for drawing beautiful lines, always with an outstanding style since it keeps the playful character of the Prodigy range despite a stiffer and more stable flex. Its imposing sidecuts and long rocker will allow you to indulge yourself, letting you float over the powder. Its poplar core makes it a lively, dynamic and relatively light ski.

The tail is considerably thinner than the tip for increased performance. The twin tip makes them perfect for freestyle and riding in switch.
Construction:
Poplar core:
Poplar is a soft, light-coloured, lightweight and strong wood that has good flex and pop, as well as a high capacity to absorb vibrations. When used alone, this wood provides pop, makes it easy to make butters and offers great stability when landing, three attributes necessary for a park ski, but also the torsional stability to ensure good grip on the pistes.
Full Strength Sidewall:
The full strength sidewall is a construction that applies layers of protective material along the edges of the sidewall, between the edge and the topsheet from above. The edges offer the best possible stability and grip when turning, while protecting the wooden core, edges and cover sheet from possible external impacts and damage.
XL 2.5 mm Edges:
One might think that seven tenths of a millimetre doesn't have much of an effect, but when it comes to edges, everything matters. The 2.5 mm edges are 35% thicker than our standard 1.8 mm edges, which are already very sturdy. This addition of steel makes the ski more resistant to impact.
Surf Zones:
Surf Zone technology is designed to combine the Rocker with the tapered shape of the tips to ensure that these two key characteristics are in perfect harmony. The Rocker provides lift and helps in the pivoting of the ski, while the Tapered Tip allows the widest part of the ski to be closer to the centre and thus reduce the risk of unwanted gripping by the edge. This technology provides excellent lift and a smooth ride in all conditions.
Anti Chip Micro-Cap:
The micro cap is a hybrid construction that combines the sandwich construction with premium edges, which is fused with a lightweight and durable cap construction. Thanks to the micro-cap, the sandwich construction provides exceptional edge hold and torsional stability, while the topsheet partially covers the edge, protecting the fragile edge that could otherwise chip off in the event of impact.
Le Prodigy 4.0 2022 étant le plus fat de la gamme, il était très attendu et on avait beaucoup d'attentes à son égard... Il les a toutes comblées, sa portance en neige fraiche est énorme et sa maniabilité reste parfaite peu importe l'épaisseur de neige.
Le Prodigy 4.0 est une belle réussite pour ceux qui recherchent un bon compromis entre fun et performances en backcountry. Plus accessible que les autres fats de la marque Faction, il est aussi plus joueur.
