MilletNorronaPicture Organic ClothingDakine .… these are all high-quality brands of ski gloves, selected by Snowleader. But how do you go about choosing the type best suited to your activities and taste? Your equipment supplier will share its little secrets with you so that you can buy the right gloves or fingerless gloves for skiing and snowboarding.

Ski and snowboard gloves: selection criteria

Above all else, your ski or snowboard gloves must retain heat and protect you from the cold. To achieve this, go for large mittens in cold weather and lighter weight ones in moderate weather. Your ski gloves also have to be breathable AND waterproof. Gloves made from Gore-Tex are most effective at doing that particular job. You can land on your hands and the snow and cold won't get through. Finally, toughness is also a key factor to take into consideration. The best thing is to pick ski gloves with leather or Cordura reinforcements. Moreover, these types allow you to have a better grip of the ski pole.

Ski gloves and fingerless gloves: the little details which count

Whatever type of ski gloves you choose, make sure that it has a number of essential accessories and features: drawstrings, Velcro wrist straps and long cuffs. Those will help you keep your gloves on and won't let the snow touch your skin. When it comes to size, bear in mind that not all brands are cut in the same way. So, don’t hesitate to refer to each manufacturer’s size guide. In any event, it’s better to choose a ski glove which is a little too big than too small. Are you an out-and-out fan of the Smartphone? If so, wear fingerless gloves under your gloves. Then, it’ll be easier for you to send SMSs or take photos.
