Double rope -
The Ice Line 8.1mm is a double rope from Beal.
This is a rope for expert climbers, it is indispensable for ice climbers and high-level mountaineers. The Ice Line 8.1mm is extremely fluid and thin, providing a very low weight of 39 gram per metre! The thinness of this rope means that you need to have a good belay technique.
The Ice Line 8.1mm uses Unicore technology. This welds the core and sheath together, without changing the flexibility characteristics of the rope. This means that if the sheath is cut or torn, the core and sheath remain together. As a result, there is no slippage between the two elements, even in emergency situations.
In addition, the Dry Cover treatment makes the Ice Line 8.1mm more resistant to water, abrasion and dust. This increases its life span.

Strong points:
- The weight and flexibility of a twin rope with the benefits of a double rope.
- Ultra-low impact force
- The rope does not swell and remains supple longer
- Features all the advantages of UNICORE
Use:
- Expert ice climbers and mountaineers
Specifications:
- Impact force: 4.9 kN
- Number of falls : 6
- Dynamic weight reduction: 37%
- Static weight reduction: 11.5%
- Sheath percentage: 41%
- Weight per metre : 39 g
Technology:
UNICORE : the process of bonding the core and sheath of the rope together without changing its flexibility. Thus, if the sheath is cut or torn, the core and sheath remain connected.
DRY COVER : Each thread is treated at a high temperature with a polymerised hydrophobic chemical coating before the rope is put together, which enhances abrasion resistance.
Advantages:
Better resistance to dust, humidity and abrasion.
- Improves rope fluidity in carabiners and belay devices.
THERMO FLUID : This treatment stabilises the fibres in the sheath and makes them more homogeneous. As a result, the rope is more compact and manageable.
